About the Researcher: My name is Chadwick Campbell. I am a Black gay man that has been living with HIV for nearly 20 years. I decided about 17 years ago to dedicate my career to working with other men of color and trying to uncover the things that put us at risk for HIV and affect the health of those of us living with HIV. I am a Baton Rouge native and love my hometown. My entire family and my oldest friends are still in Baton Rouge and I am home multiple times a year. I am completing my PhD at the University of California San Francisco, but given my love for BR, it was easy to decide where and what to study for my dissertation. I knew that I wanted to do my work at home with a community that I am a member of. I went to high school at Baton Rouge High, and began my college education at the University of New Orleans. I have a Bachelors in Sociology, a Masters degree in Public Health, and I am completing my PhD in Medical Sociology. This work is not just a job for me. It’s personal. Preventing HIV among people of color is my passion and I hope that my work will be beneficial to the many communities that are disproportionately affected by the epidemic.
